ARC Raiders Quest Guide: Collision Course

"Collision Course" in ARC Raiders is one of those quests that sounds simple until you actually face a Comet in the open. Tian Wen sends you out to destroy one of these rolling machines and bring back a Comet Igniter in one piece. The challenge isn't just fighting the enemy—it's controlling distance, line of sight, and timing so the Comet dies before it detonates. This quest is more about planning and reading enemy behavior than just running and shooting ARC Raiders Items.

Before leaving Speranza, it helps to prepare specifically for this mission. Stock up on fast, powerful explosives like Seeker Grenades and Snap Blasts, which can hit Comets from a safe distance. Seekers are especially forgiving if your aim isn't perfect, as they track targets before they fully engage you. Your loadout should include a reliable mid- to long-range weapon, a way to reposition quickly, and enough healing to survive if a Comet gets too close. Being over-prepared is better than watching a Comet explode right in front of you.

Finding a Comet can be tricky at first. They look similar to Surveyors but have a distinctive blue light or tile on top that turns yellow when they spot you. Some maps have higher spawn rates, making targeted hunting easier. Recommended locations include Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, The Blue Gate, Spaceport, and especially Riven Tides, where several Comets patrol beaches and wrecked areas. Think of this phase as scouting—move carefully, scan the horizon for the blue glow, and avoid pulling extra ARC groups while searching.

Once you spot a Comet, the quest becomes a race against its detonation. You must destroy it before it explodes, or it won't drop the Comet Igniter. Comets are dangerous once they lock onto you, rolling fast and dealing heavy damage. Engage from long range and use cover whenever possible. Open with your strongest explosives before the Comet commits to a charge. Fighting from high ground or open areas helps you track its approach and dodge if necessary.

The actual kill sequence is short but can be punishing if misplayed. Start with one or more Seeker Grenades while the Comet is unaware, then follow with Snap Blasts or concentrated rifle fire. Avoid closing the distance unless you can finish it quickly. Watch the light: once it turns yellow, the Comet is rolling aggressively, and any mistake could trigger an explosion. Position obstacles between you and the Comet to slow it down and gain a few extra seconds.

If you succeed, the Comet drops a special container that looks like an energy core, holding the Comet Igniter. Grab it and move it into a safe inventory slot, then return to Tian Wen with the same caution you used while hunting. The Igniter is required for quest completion and can also be used in crafting and other projects, making this quest worth repeating.

With practice, Collision Course can become a reliable loop for farming Comet Igniters.
